The raised garden bed project was something started before Christmas but as everyone said, other things got in the way.

But on Monday, September 7 the garden beds, benches and movable table were finally welcomed into a sunny corner at Bimbimbie's Albert Moore Gardens aged care home.

The work was carried out by Merimbula Rotarians Don Faget and Bruce Eaton and the gardens have been named after Julie Evans who was the facility manager for several years and was also the driving force behind the project.

The raised garden beds allow anyone, including those in a wheelchair, to take part in gardening activities and the plan is to raise a variety of seedlings including both flowers and some herbs.

Recreation officer Elsa Booysen said everyone was very happy to see the raised garden beds in place. Rotary members also planted mandarin trees in the nearby garden.
